Nintendo was able to move 270,974 Wiis last month into new homes, while Sony only moved 41,628 machines. Much to the chagrin of Microsoft the Xbox 360 is still lagging behind both systems with sales of 17,616 units. So what does the success that the Wii is having affect the gaming market? Many people were skeptical of the $250 system when it first came out because it didn't have the top of the line hardware and people weren't too sure about how the new controller was going to work. But not too many people are doubting the little system that could now. Even SEGA marketing director Scott Steinberg, who publicly doubted the Wii's long-term staying power in a series of comments, almost immediately retracted those statements. And according to a gamesindustry.biz article, Japanese publishers like Namco Bandai, SEGA, and Capcom are all increasing Nintendo support whether it be for the Wii or the Nintendo handheld, DS.
