Halo 3 Beta

If you were one of the many people to pick up one of the specially marked packages of Crackdown, you will be one of the lucky people to participate in the Halo 3 multiplayer beta starting May 16th. After seeing all the vid docs about the development of the game so far and seeing just how much effort they are putting into the multiplayer aspect of Halo 3, I cannot wait to play this. Between the new weapons, the brand new equipment options, and the Mongoose the combat is only going to become that much more intense and fun. Just reading some of the descriptions of these weapons on the Halo 3 website has gotten me all worked up. I mean, how brutal does the Brute Spike Rifle sound? Or there is the devastating shoulder-mounted laser cannon that is the Spartan Laser. Let's also not forget the resurrected and upgraded MA5 series Assault Rifle that will have all the original Halo nerds spewing in their Bungie boxers. The amount of hype surrounding the release of this BETA is ginormous (not actually a real adjective). I mean, this game isn't even scheduled for release until the fall and from what I have been reading it is already very impressive. If the multiplayer aspect of this game is already so polished I am really looking forward to playing the single player campaign. The fact that the Bungie team has atleast 4 months (just shooting a number out there) to tweak this game only means better things for the Halo gaming community. This game is the reason I picked up an Xbox and from what I have been able to gather from all the videos and beta previews, I could not possibly be more impressed. I already have my game room set up for endless hours of man-cannon fed sniper headshots, Covenant plasma grenade tags, and Warthog drive-bys. Now that the Elites of the Covenant have allied themselves with the Humans after learning of the great lie told to them for a millenia by their Prophets, will there assistance be enough to turn the tide in the final chapter of the Halo trilogy? While the beta will not be able to answer this for us, it will certainly give us a hint at how fun it will be kicking Covenant ass with all the new toys.

My next post will be about the fantastic Utah and Golden State NBA playoff series. While you are patiently waiting for my lazy ass, please witness Baron Davis using Andrei Kirilenko as a ladder.
