Stacraft 2?

As has been reported by every major gaming news source, Blizzard will be announcing a brand new title on May 19th at the Worldwide Invitational in South Korea. There has been wild speculation about just what the game will be. Many are banking on the fact that Blizzard has said many times in the past that it wishes to continue the Starcraft saga in the future, and what better time than now? However, there are still some people holding out for Diablo 3 but I think that is pretty unlikely. Where do you start off after what happened in Diablo 2: Lords of Destruction? With the three prime evils dead at the conclusion of the expansion pack, who are you left to fight? And if anyone even mentions a Warcraft 4, they are delusional and need to seek immediate medical attention. Some people might even bring up Lost Vikings 2, but the chances of them announcing another Lost Vikings game at one of the world's largest gaming tournaments is pretty slim. So, the only real possibilities for a new game would have to be something involving Starcraft. Now I say "something involving" because ComputerAndVideoGames.com was given information by "well placed US sources" that the new title being announced by Blizzard will be in fact a Stacraft MMO. Now this came as a great shock to me because I had been fumbling around with the idea of a Starcraft MMO but never thought for a second Blizzard might end up making one. Now I know it is after all a rumor plus I can't even begin to think that it might be true because they already have the most populated MMO of all time with World Of Warcraft. Would Blizzard really distribute more resources to yet another expansive MMO that would have to (in my opinion) include some kind of space flying dynamic along with ground combat? It's not that I don't think Blizzard could do it, but I would imagine it would be a great strain on the company to have content updates for both games, provide customer support (who by WoW players accounts has been subpar), and provide dedicated and reliable realm servers. After speaking with people on message boards and my own friends, people would much rather have another RTS. The Stacraft series is still the most played RTS ever and in places like South Korea, it's a phenomenon. In fact, there are three TV stations in South Korea devoted solely to Starcraft Tournament games. The seeds for a sequel were cultivated at the end of the Starcraft: Brood War. If you complete the last Zerg campaign mission in under 25 minutes you will have access to the secret mission Dark Origin. This last mission leads many to start speculating about what's next when it is discovered that Samir Duran was in fact not Kerrigan's pawn but instead serves a higher power. "I am a servant of a far greater power. A power that has slept for countless ages. And is reflected in the creature within that cell." He also states that "I've had many names throughout the millennia, young prodigal. You would know me best as Samir Duran"when he begins speaking to Zeratul. Now what better way to continue the Starcraft saga than with another award winning RTS. I for one would be extremely pissed if this new title is in fact anything else but Starcraft 2.

Crossing my fingers.....
