Gamers 1 Doctors 0

I had written previously that the AMA was considering making video game addiction an official disorder. GamesIndustry.biz however is reporting that we no longer need be concerned. After some debate and banter concluded, the AMA was surprised to discover that doctors were generally opposed to the idea of classifying game addiction as a legitimate disorder.. The main reason that most doctors were opposed was due to insufficient research. A final recommendation is set to come later this week. AMA doctor, Stuart Gitlow, hwas quoted as saying "There's nothing here to suggest that this is a complex physiological disease state akin to alcoholism or other substance abuse disorders, and it doesn't get to have the word addiction attached to it."
